CHAPTER 18
G ENERAL AND S UPPLEMENTARY PROVISIONS
PART 1
G ENERAL PROVISIONS AS TO C OMMISSIONS
This section establishes the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe as the nation's central bank with three primary responsibilities: monetary system regulation, currency protection, and monetary policy implementation. The provision is significant because it constitutes the constitutional foundation for Zimbabwe's monetary authority, ensuring its core functions are protected at the highest legal level. The second clause allows Parliament to further define the bank's structure and expand its mandate through legislation, providing flexibility to adapt to changing economic circumstances while maintaining constitutional oversight.
